Fred, or as we knew him POPPA SMURF, was very active in the Chapter. He served on the Honor Guard
Also participated in many Chapter events. Was good friends with Chris D'Angelo. Retired from the MTA
Remember seeing him at the old Chapter meeting hall a few years back and he lost alot of weight. His full beard was shaven and he had lost some hair due to the chemotherapy treatments.
He finally succumbed to Agent Orange cancer. Rest in Peace Poppa Smurf.

My wife was a distant cousin to Freds' wife, "Baby Diana" Lombardo. I never noticed that Fred had been a member of Chapter 32 although I knew from Diana that he had died.
