Officers & BOD: Doug Williams,Mike Daughtry, Al Ranni, Lenny Williams, Phil Scanlan, John Rowan, Mike O’Kane, Jay Marksheid, Paul Feddern, Tom Bullaro (w/Joanne).
Membership: Rubens Galchin, Tom VanEtten (Chaplain), , Bob Boisselle, Wayne Weisberg, Fred Grundel, Tom McElhenny, Jim Hammer.
Doug opened BOD with several points listed as main objectives.
1: Glass window on bus was replaced with plexiglass at local vendor.
2: Discussion of 9/11 ceremony at Juniper Valley Park 7 PM on Sept 11. Honor Guard needed as well as Taps to be played. Phil made a suggestion about ceremony lasting 2+ hours and standing on the stairwell for continuing speeches was certainly painful. It was decided to borrow flag stands from PLAV. All notifications were made regarding our attendance.
3: Forest Park at 80th Street and Myrtle Ave has been responded to as well that Chapter will attend. Honor Guard and Bugler required. Sept 18th,
4: Vietnam Wall ‘Massing of the Colors”, at Nations Capitol in recognition of 9.2 million who served and 58,000+ lost. Nov 11, 2022 Veterans Day, arrival 12 noon. NYS VVA will provide the Color Guard. As Chapter is already committed it was determined that anyone wishes to attend they may do so on their own. Reimbursement TBD.
5: Middle Village Veterans Day Parade is already scheduled. Parade will be on Metropolitan Ave.
6: State Council meeting on 23rd and 24th. John Rowan, Lennie Williams plan to attend with further possibility of Mike O’Kane. Budget item for Chapter to Tioga Raceway Casino, Nichols, NY.
7: Hats to be sold at Street Fairs. Need to be properly inventoried.
8: Vietnam Veterans 50th Anniversary pins. Request has been made to act as vendor to sell pins to those requesting them. Objections surfaced regarding those who did not serve in / near Nam or SE Asia. Applcations to be filed and final decision tabled until next meeting.
9: Kiwanis Club, Howard Beach recognize 10 years of service provided by Eric Ulrich, Buildings Commissioner, Council Member with Community Service Award, dinner and reception. Sponsor a Journal Ad ($150 . Sponsor a Journal Ad ($150 half page/ $200 half page/ $200 Full Page) BOD decided on Full Page Ad.
10: Artistic Stitch still owes us $150 and continues to drag their feet.
11: Needleheads still has not answered us with regard to gym bags being planned and $2800 on account. MTH recommends Maspeth Press for all our needs including printing and Embroidery, Shirts, Jackets.
12: Lennie reported on Leadership Conference and reported on various aspects including that the Chapter is delinquent on elections.
13: BOD began initial considerations prior to general meeting where actual voting will proceed. Queried as to who is to be considered and verified ability and interest prior to general meeting.
Following repast General Meeting was brought to Order:
14: Pledge of Allegiance, Blessing by Chaplain, Motto.
15: Ray Orablo mentioned as ill and to be in our prayers.
16: Events listed above were brought to attention of membership.
17: State Council Meeting in Tioga NY, Attendees to be John Rowan, Lennie Williams, and possibly Mike O’Kane.
18: Massing of the Colors Washington DC discussed and story related by John Rowan as the originators of the Wall and efforts to fund it, parades etc.
19: ELECTIONS BEGAN with Nominations, Seconds and show of hands:

BOD election occurred last year.
20: John Rowan advised regarding Moving Wall; Movie regarding Greatest Generation Ever: highly recommended by John.
